For those who believe there are too many bowl games with mediocre teams, I agree. But you have the option not to tune in. You can look at bowl game matchups and predict what you think will be the good games. But you never know. It's why I check the mid third period scores of every game to see if there's a potential great ending unfolding.
I remember back in 78 (had to look up the year by using the score) Oklahoma was supposed to clock Arkansas in the Orange Bowl due to suspension of several key Arkansas players. A third string running back ran for over 200 yards leading Arkansas to a 31-6 victory over #2 Oklahoma. Had OU won they would have won the national championship. #1 had lost earlier in the day.
My view of the game was some suspended players learned they weren't bigger than the team and life went on just fine without them.
