Uhhh...unless your son is projected to be a high draft pick this should always be the primary strategy IMO. Use baseball to get into a school that would not otherwise be able to him. A player's academics is what is going to carry him through life, which is a heck of a lot longer than 4 years of college baseball. Again JMO.

22 son committed pretty quickly. Travel coach thought he should wait for a higher ranked baseball program (son is a relatively late bloomer). Decision was driven by a) academics b) roster/playing time c) feel for the coach and program and d) uncertainty. D)  is what made him pull the trigger earlier than he otherwise might have.
