advice for try outs.... please answer

hey, me and my friend are both trying out for highschool baseball, i am a returning player and he isnt, and this is a really hard year to make the team, because there are so many returning player, theres like 3 spots open for non returniong players. even though the coach says that everyone has a chance , and no spot is garunteed,i know the returning players arent ghonna be cut . i wanna give some advice to my friend on how to better himself in the last two days of tryots, hes a pretty good player .
