who else would call the game? This was my policy since 1987. We are looking for "leadership" from the catcher. We do the same when our American team plays the National teams from Japan, Korea, China, Australia. Why not!

Umpires? I was just curious. Had never been, so this was new. Very few called strikes at the one we attended after the first 2-3 catchers. After that it was rare to have a strike if they weren’t swinging. I didn’t know if it had always been that way or not. Thanks for clarifying.
