I am also from central NJ ... went through the NJSFU - Mickey Sedlak chapter when my kids grew and I no longer coached them. They had a training class - 2 nights a week in the winter - 6-8 weeks... after year 1 - you were JV certified... after year 2 - Varsity (if you pass the exams). Then you hook up with an assignor. The chapter can help you - as they have assignors that are members. I hooked up with teh assignor that was doing our local Cal Ripken league. If you are doing it for the money - this is the wrong path. Other sports pay much better for the hours put in. Feel free to PM me if you want more details. I do a lot of Cal Ripken - summer tournaments and some USABL too.
