Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

When I was early in my professional career we were doing a territory review for the regional SVP. A fairly unsuccessful rep was tap dancing about his prospects due to lack of closes. The VP stopped him and said ....

"Never confuse activity with results. It's possible to work real hard doing the wrong things. You will ultimately be judged on results."

I've never forgotten "never confuse activity with results." Thirty years later my kids are tired of hearing it.
