Reply to "Blue-Grey Reports?"

We had to leave William and Mary after two days due to football practice, but scout/coach numbers were down from previous years. I saw 15-18 during Showcase BP, infield, etc. on Monday, and at the games yesterday, 10-12 or so. Weather was a problem as Williamsburg had a horrific thunderstorm Monday night, and with no head coach in place, the staff at W & M wasn't quite on top of it-field wasn't tarped, and Tuesday games were delayed by a few hours. It may've gotten worse as another storm hit as we left around 7:00 p.m. Weather can certainly be a bear, but it looked like there were no advance contingency plans for adverse weather. Field crew didn't look real baseball-savy, but they worked very hard to get it ready after the sun came out. Organization could have been better; with the weather-related changes, the only source of info was asking at the front desk of the host hotel. No notice posted on the wall, hard to get info, lots of players reported to the field only to find they were 3 hours early. No list of schools posted. Gus is a great guy but this one didn't have a real solid feel to it. I heard a lot of parent grumbles that for the money, they expected a better scout presence.

Approximately 10 kids threw upper 80's-low 90's in the bullpens.
