I am the host family father in Virginia for a Brazilian exchange student. This studnet is a pitcher and played for Atlee High School this past season. He has been evaluated by several folks and offered between $7,000 and $10,000 to attend at least 3 D3 schools in Virginia. His most recent evaluation was with Guy Hansen (current Richmond Braves pitching coach). Coach Hansen feels that this player is currently a solid D2/D3 prospect with a tremendous upside. The offers this student has currently received leave him with roughly $18,000 to $22,000 to pay.As his father passed away in February of 2003 and college is free in Brazil, his mother is having not in a position to afford the above.There is no viable opporunity for him to continue playing baseball in Brazil. He is scheduled to return home on June 26 and we are looking to get a little more exposure for him before he goes home. If there is anyone out there that can offer advice on showcases, etc., it would be much appreciated.
