I have seen (heard) this before - our players (with no one prompting them) continually kicked dirt with thier back foot on the catcher prior to EVERY pitch - the Ump was cracking up! Never did shut the kid up but it still is one of those great baseball stories that we like to talk about.
On the more serious side, we had a game that almost ended with a bench clearing brawl. The catcher talked all game and when one of our players popped out to end the game he made a remark not suitable for this site and our players reacted strongly but the coach handled it well....our coach also gave the opposing coach some "advice" about future games. The Ump did nothing!
To me baseball is about class - winning or losing. In both scenarios no one would shake the hand of the catcher at the end of the game - if thats my son, he wouldn't need an Ump, coach or anyone else to change the way he was acting.
