Son is a catcher. Catching coach told him long ago that once you hand the ball back to the pitcher, you've lost his ear. So anytime he visits the mound he holds on to the ball until he is done talking to the pitcher. The strategy has worked but als has led to many pitchers standing there with their hand held out...........
