Yeah, it seems a little ridiculous to have all this gear. To be honest, though, he will not carry all eight bats to a typical game because five of them are wood bats he uses in wood bat tournaments. This number will dwindle as they break.

He just bought new catcher's gear so he'll have a second set for backup. And, since the bag is big enough, he can carry both sets.

I'm now a little embarrassed I mentioned the contents of his bag; seems a bit excessive

. These hockey bags do hold a tremendous amount of whatever one might carry, though.
