Reply to "Catcher's Throw to 3rd Mechanics Described"

If the toes are pointed out like they should be, it is impossible to have the heels off the ground. Start watching the professional catchers. Pitchers also start with the heel touching the ground and the weight being on the ball of the foot. Most catchers will dig in so their heel on the ground is slightly higher than the toe. This automaticaly puts the weight on the balls of the foot. Some pitchers do the same thing. So do some hitters. Catchingcoach gives some good advice. The closed right hand should be a loose rather than tight squeeze grip. Never expose finger or thumb tip.
