I'll let others provide their thoughts, but that's standard protocol. I don't think that means he'll actually show up any time soon. I only mention that, as I wouldn't respond giving insight that your son is not a top starter (not sure what year he is). Don't want to give him reason to look in another direction, even if the top 3 guys are studs IMO.

I'm a big camp fan (many are not), so I would plan on showing demonstrated interest and do some of the legwork for the coach. Therefore, I would respond with a "Thank you, I'll ask my coach get back to you on my scheduled starts. Meanwhile, do you have any camps coming up this summer, as I would love to attend and meet you and your staff..."
