College letters

My son is a junior and has been receiving letters from D1 and D2 colleges. His HS coach wants us to fill out our portion on the forms they are sending and then he'll fill out his and mail for us. I think we have the right to see what he's saying and would rather send ourselves. What do most HS coaches do? This coach doesn't have a good history of helping his players get to college.
