That is a perfect set up. I am not a huge fan of summer college ball for a lot of kids unless they are in a top 5 program and/or looking forward to the draft. In many cases kids are better off working in the gym and their craft in a training environment vs the grind of a full blown summer league. (50ish games) Plus the future employment post college is likely based on internships.

What your son is doing is perfect as he is getting some reps in and can also refresh from the college grind.
