Courtland pitcher Alex Kobersteen went the distance and ensured the Cougars’ win with a two-out, game-winning single down the right-field line in the seventh that scored courtesy runner Jack Truchsess for a 2–1 baseball victory over visiting Spotsylvania on Thursday.
Kobersteen allowed two hits and four walks while striking out seven. Tommy Haught, who was subbed by Truchsess in the seventh, went 2-for-4 for Courtland (5–11), which visits Chancellor on Monday, at 7 p.m.
Knights starter Jonathan Rivard struck out six over four innings. Dante Fairchild singled and scored for Spotsylvania.
