I used to coach with a guy who always wanted to use SS as cut...which I deemed wrong. My thinking? If the 1B is not the cut to most balls in the OF, he essentially becomes a statue. It's like playing with one less player. Use all players at the best positioning for your cuts to maximize your opportunities.
