Most educators agree that academic rigor is the most important ingredient in preparing a young person for post secondary education, and success with rigor is perhaps the best predictor of success in college. Does this have anything to do with success in baseball? No, not without talent, but it sure opens a lot of doors.
I will offer an example of a young man from Albuquerque- Tavo Hall, a 5th year senior at USF where he started at SS the last two years, and last year was the class valedictorian. This young man has already accomplished a great deal in his life. He was very well prepared for college with honors and AP classes in HS.
