I found these two sites to have the most objective data points available because these are the numbers self reported back to Dept of Education. My two favs:

http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/Index.aspx.

Go to either :

1) Get data for one institution or

2) Get aggregated data for a group of institutions.

This includes Financial information (revenue and expenses), and the data is downloadable for college athletics across any NCAA level or NAIA.

College Navigator is slo priceless in determining academic ranges.. http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/

Additionally, sites like HSBBWeb and College Confidential were able to fill in the blanks for subjective data, and poster experience with a college program or situation.
