Reply to "Fall baseball & training?"

Athletes train all year.  If you stop, even for a week, you loose strength;  so train.  Having said that, you do need to be smart about what you train, when you train, and how hard you train, but you train.  Your son should discuss his fall ball activities with his strength/conditioning coach so that his training will mesh with his baseball activities.  My son is fortunate in that his strength/conditioning coach is his defensive line coach (football) and varsity pitching coach.  As a result, he has been able to refine his routine to complement the three sports he plays (baseball, basketball, football).  Right now he performs maintenance lifts for strength, is starting to kick in some cardio (for basketball), performing plyometrics (after his baseball games on Sunday and then Tuesday) for basketball (jump training), and flexability/ resistance band work for baseball.  You just have to be smart about what you're doing.
