Update. Almost two weeks and thumb still hurts to close the catcher's glove. SLOWLY getting better. 3 x-ray shots all showed nothing broken. I guess he bruised the bone and sprained it. Fortunately, the catcher's thumb seems to be doing the trick and very little or no pain catching with it. So, I expect he'll be using it until the thumb is 100% or perhaps all the time.
