Game report: McKinney North 2, McKinney 0.. Lackie wins first duel with Lee

North senior Matt Lackie (on his 18th birthday) beat McKinney sophomore Zach Lee with a one-hitter.

Lackie hit his usual 88-92 MPH but North coach Jim Gatewood said keeping his pitch count to 84 going into what would be a 1-2-3 seventh was the key... McKinney thought Lackie's up-and-down locations kept them off balance.

McKinney senior C Andy Lalumandier broke the no-no with a solid fifth inning single.. "Waist high fastball," Lackie said.

Lackie was effectively wild.. 10Ks, 3 HPB, 1 walk, five baserunners

In the sixth, Lalumandier it a drive to the fence in right that Nico Taylor (with a little adventure) brought in .. Arizona signee Taylor is improving quickly at right after having played some but a lot of first too.

Lee was strong and North scored with the help of two errors (rate ***** miscue on routine play)

"It was the first time I'd seen Lee," North coach Jim Gatewood said. "He's everything I'd heard."
