Got the Loss?

My son who is a junior started and pitched 2 innings the other night. He did not have his best stuff and went deep in some counts. He gave up 3 runs, struck out 2. When he left the game it was a 3-3 tie and when we went back into the field we had a 4-3 lead. Coach pulled my son and replaced him with another pitcher that walked 6 straight (not our best night!) He was pulled and each successive pitcher struggled to find the strike zone. Team suffered a major loss.

The coach blamed my son for not pitching well enough to allow him to leave him in and gave him the official loss for the game.

I would not think that that would be the correct way to score the game, what do you think about how my son was saddled with the loss.
