I think most coaches just want to have assurance that they can get you in, and that you can stay in once you're there. I have heard of players getting passed over because although they could get past admissions, the coaches feared that they would not be able to stay eligible given the strain that their baseball obligations would place upon them.
When you look at the daily schedules of college baseball players, it's a wonder they can get their research papers done and pass their exams.
