No. Kidzilla never grew more than 4-1/2 inches in a year. He also never grew less than 3 over a span of 8-10 years through 9th grade, then 2 more inches each 10th and 11th grade, and almost an inch the first semester of his senior year.
Then the muscle started showing up. He had tried to gain weight to no avail for years. But after his vertical growth slowed to a trickle, he gained 35 lean pounds in 6 months (most of it while playing varsity basketball).
There were some pretty remarkable mini-spurts mixed in there, like when he grew almost an inch the week of his 14th birthday.
