With any showcase there are obvious things to learn and some subtle things to learn. You may not know who, what, where, when, or how...but learning opportunities will always present themselves.

If your son had decided to leave early he may very well have become one of those learning experiences...an example to the remaining players of a kid 'that cuts out early... regardless of the reason'. This was a possibility even though your reason was to get a jump on the long drive home.

Your son made the right decision and will be respected for it...and I'm sure he learned something additional by remaining.
