Why does he need the expensive bat?
Years ago, I purchased an Easton 33" green strip for our Legion team, 30 games times 9 players times 4 AB
= 1,080 contacts. After the final game, the bat cracked from fatigue and the local dealer replaced the bat w/o charge. Cost was $0.
Metal bats will have stress points and they can be increased by players using the bat to knock off dirts from the spikes.
Why not buy a used bat until the player learns to use the bat properly. Use wood bats or composite bats in practice to teach the player to hit.
