The only torque in the swing is generated by the weight of the bat head being held by the hands creating string tension during the swing. Using older thread terms, this would be the second 'bat bend'.

In the clips, notice the flight of the ball and the angle of the hips. Usually if the angle is similar, weight shift is exerting force into contact.

Looking at his front hip, the batter is either looking to pull the ball or is slightly fooled by an off speed pitch.
