Are distance and exit velo numbers decently accurate? If so, that is very cool!

It really felt like maybe the distance numbers were short. I really didn't may much attention to the exit velo numbers. There was a dad in the cage before my son. He obviously had played some baseball in his past as he had a pretty good swing. He was clobbering the ball and he was commenting on how it wasn't going as far as he thought it should be. He kept blaming the squishy balls. But I am wondering if the employees have the ability to change the settings on the simulator to make numbers look better/worse just like they can change the conditions in a golf simulator for people trying out clubs. I would think that they would inflate the numbers though to get people to buy new bats.
