Nobody's kids have their height determined by national averages. It's determined by genetics. My daughter is 5'10". My son is 6'2". We weren't surprised by either based on our height and the height in the family tree.

 

As for poster's having tall kids, the better athletes are usually tall. My son looks at the athletes around him and thinks 6'2" is normal height.
