IHSA ruins it

There's no other word I can come up with to describe what the IHSA has done this year with the baseball playoffs but "idiotic".

To sum things up, all regionals have already been decided with team assignments.  The IHSA has determined all the regionals already.  During the season.

In the past, the regular season mattered because coaches would rank teams based on record, what they've seen/heard, how teams fared against each other.  Now it doesn't matter.  A team could literally go 1-34 this year and it wouldn't matter because all the placements have been made.  In years past, the ranking system worked fairly well.  High ranked teams (based on the season) would be paired up evenly against lower ranked teams and so forth. Like a true seeding.

Take a look here (this is a link to the 3A page):

Crestwood SuperSectional has a regional with JCA, Lemont, Oak Forest, LW West, and Tinley Park.  That is a shame. Compared to the other regionals in that Super, that regional is way too stacked.  Of course you have to play the games to earn it, but whoever comes out of that one regional is set up waaaaaay more nicely in relation to the talent level of all the other regionals.
