The problem I have with scoring it a FC is that the rules state an "attempt" (OBR) is made to put out a proceeding runner. If no attempt, no FC. I also can't charge an error because no mishandle was made, mental maybe but not physical. So that leaves hit.

Plus the way I envision the play is that it couldn’t have been hit very sharp or the fielder should have had time to take a quick look and still make the play at first, unless the batter is liquid lighting.
