Probably correct. If the contact occurred within a few feet of home plate, it could be ruled "nothing". But if the contact occurred at, say, 5 or 6 feet or more away from home, the runner should have had time to perceive the path of the ball, and to avoid the space the catcher needs to field the ball. So it would be interference.
