I have not really checked into it, but I was told that in Ohio you can only play 4 yrs total in high school. So if you were to start in the 7th and play every yr following that, you would have to sit out your jr and sr years. Maybe other states are different but the coach at our school said it wouldn't make any sense to move up an 8th grader because he'd have to sit out his sr yr.
