At least Boras didn't say that Weaver "had a family to feed." For players who were drafted much farther down the "food chain" it seems incomprehensible that Weaver/Boras could turn down that kind of money and opportunity. Maybe just like the NHL players, if you have you have never lost one and your holding out strategy has always worked, you are shocked when it happens the first time...unless they talk some more and reach an agreement.
