The clueless joe's of whom you speak are their fellow MLB players. This list is the result of a poll of the players.

BTW, a few years back the University of Pennsylvania did a study of all the shortstops in MLB and Jeter was rated the worst defensive shortstop in the majors. As good as Jeter is overall, and yes the players recognize that, when someone who can be rated as the worst defensive shortstop in the game wins gold glove awards he is overrated.

Just to add some more fuel to the fire, the consensus pick for all-time overrated player seems to be Nolan Ryan.
