Jim Thome and lefthanded pitchers

I've watched Jim for 2 years.

Why does any lefthander throw him anything but a curve ball?

I haven't see him hit a curveball from a lefthander, hard, for 2 years.

As a matter of fact, he looks like a highschooler on most of the curve balls thrown by lefthanders.
