I was reading another board and the topic of knee savers came up. One of the posters mentioned that when he sees a catcher with knee savers, he discredits that kid as a "real catcher". My son is a high school catcher who uses them. I had never thought about what others might think. But as he starts the whole recruiting process, I would if he should start playing without them? I don't think they have any effect on his playing ability, but if they have a negative effect of coaches, are they worth it? (Or is this really a non-issue. A good coach can see skill no mater what the player wears.)
