my son is taking a medical redshirt this year. He had the Labrum surgery in November of 2023. He was anticipating a 1 year recovery and was pushing to get ready in the fall of 2024. However, he was unable to get his velocity back up to pre-injury form. The coaches sent him to another Orthopedic surgeon for a followup. That OS stated that everything looked really good, but that whomever told him it would be a 1 year recovery for a pitcher was being very ambitious. THe OS told him and the coaching staff that he would have expected an 18 month recovery for the level of surgery that he had. So, they med redshirt him this year and he is rehabbing through the spring. He should be on the mound ready to go in May in time for summer baseball.
