If you didn't play, you wouldn't be on the roster. As far as I know, players must attend tryouts every year (

) . If you don't make it, you'd need a release to try out/play for another team. The release should be automatic (it's more like a courtesy), but some guys are goofy about it. It's not like you're a free agent, though. Do you wanna switch teams?
