This is a very interesting topic. I never considered deliberately taking the close 3-2 pitch.

You are also right about the higher levels swinging at strikes and taking more balls. I learned that I only broke my bat when I extended the zone. I adjusted because I got sick of walking back to the dugout with a 10 inch piece of wood in my hands.
