Reply to "Lynnhaven Palomino (Virginia Beach) finishes third in World"

Let me just add a quick footnote, because I cannot let Billy Phillips go unnoticed here. Billy has taken a Palomino program that was virtually non-existent a few ago and produced two world series teams.

Some will say that it is easy to do this when you recruit the best talent in the area (Duh). Opinions of that sort are short-sided as far as I'm concerned. In order to compete on a national level in this age group, there is no other choice. Billy competes year in and year out with organizations that pull talent from entire geograhpic regions. Not to mention the fact that he does all of this on a shoe string, rec ball budget while the "upper echelon" teams are coporately sponsored, not just by local businesses, but national corporations.

The success of this program is a reflection not only of Billy and Jerry's committment, but again to the talent that the Tidewater region continues to produce. Congratulations fellows, you sure as hell earned it.
