Even though I'm Jewish I have a Christian father, ex wife and kids. I've always celebrated Chrsitmas. Right now I'm on the train to NYC to spend the day with my kids. They celebrated Christmas Eve with their mother last night. I have Pandora set to Mannheim Steamroller and similar Christmas songs.
Some of the songs brought back memories. I remember when my kids were little I would be the last one awake. I would put on Mannheim Steamroller, headphones and sit in their rooms watching then sleep peacefully before I went to sleep.
As a kid there was the annual battle to sneak down the creaky stairs before 8am getting past my grandmother who slept at the top of the stairs. I never successfully sneaked downstairs. One year I was sure I was getting a ten speed. Rather than play games I ran down stairs, turned on the lights, pumped my first, exhalted "Yes!" and surrendered to my grandmother who was right behind me.
