On February 6, 2010 the Mid Atlantic Red Sox, in conjunction with Extra Innings, will be holding an Evaluation/Tryout for players at Extra Innings located at 7904 Rossville Boulevard, Nottingham, Maryland 21236. This Evaluation/Tryout is for elite high school players that want to play college and/or professional baseball. All players will be evaluated by Coach Dan Gitzen, former GM of the Mid Atlantic Mets and current Manager and Coach of the Mid Atlantic Red Sox (which merged), assisted by college coaches, who will provide a written evaluation including an assessment of whether, and at what level, a player can expect to play in college. Coach Gitzen and Allen Haines, GM of the Mid Atlantic Red Sox, will also be selecting players to be invited to play on the 2010 Mid Atlantic Red Sox Summer Showcase team. In addition to the evaluation, players will receive instruction from college coaches.
Additionally Lou Holcomb, Associate Scout, Baltimore Orioles, Director, Mid-Atlantic High School Baseball Classic, aka “Crab Claw Classic,” will also attend. Additional colleges will be announced. Players and parents will receive information on the college recruiting process. Select players will be asked to try out to play in the televised 2010 Crab Claw Classic.
