A catcher's mitt is the most personal piece of gear we have. I could recommend a few great models, but we have different preferences when it comes to gloves. I love small mitts because they let me get into and out of the glove quicker when making a throw. I also don't feel as if the extra leather on the glove is costing me strikes. Some guys prefer bigger mitts because they know the ball has no shot at popping out.

My suggestion is to find a local indoor facility that has a pro-shop and start trying different gloves on to see if YOU like it. All-Star mitts are my preference, but I used Wilson mitts for a while. Both are incredibly durable when you are talking about the higher end models and when properly taken care of.

It may seem like a stupid comment, but only you can tell you what feels right on your hand while behind the dish.
