The quiet period does work as intended. It's as much a chance for coaches to get a break and spend time with their families and keep institutional recruiting costs manageable, as it is giving the recruits a breather.

Coaches still wanted and should have the ability to make some ancillary income without the NCAA restricting that ability.

It's really not hypocrisy when you see the rule for its true intention rather than the most obvious meaning.
