Pekin High School in Illinois is a straight shot through the middle of the earth to Beijing, which used to be Peking, thus the name Pekin. Their team name was formerly the Chinks, but that had to be changed for obvious reasons.

While the name Providence Friars is not at all strange, the Friar mascot is absolutely the creepiest mascot I've ever seen. I would post a photo but I don't know how.
