Technically no, he’s an employee/coach no matter what. Now, might that happen without anyone saying anything? Possibly. Unless a family member is participating, they would have a tough time selling that if caught because it would appear he’s performing a basic job function. That’s how the NCAA looks at it

If that were to happen and the coach reported, not only could he be fired, but the program from which he comes from would more than likely be hit with violations, which usually means lose of scholarships.
