Reply to "NCSA Athletic Recruiting Network"

If the player and his family will invest sufficient time and interest to following the great advice on this website, a recruiting service is a waste of money. You're much better off (1) being thoughtful and objective about what school/program makes sense for you, (2) making the coaches at those programs aware of your interest (yourself!), and (3) putting yourself in front of the coaches who are of significance to you.

Question: How much credence do you think a coach is going to put into a communication from a service they know was hired to do so by the player's parents? Relying on a source such as that would represent the antithesis of what the vast majority of coaches believe to be the right way to go about the identification and evaluation of talent.

The fact is that most coaches look upon recruiting services and related websites as being little more than strokes to the vanity of the player's parents.
