Do you really think when a coach brings in a high profile transfer that there is truly a fair shot? I think most of the time when a coach brings in a high profile player, that position is his in all sports. I am one of the few, obviously, who appreciates coaches who tell it like it is rather people will like it or not. If you don't have a plan for me in my job or my son in baseball then tell me so I can move on rather than lead me on. I appreciate coaches who tell players that they don't have a plan to use them. I've also learned that most of those coaches will also do a good job of helping players find a place to land, not all, but most.
